Darius wins extended fights by stacking Hemorrhage to five, activating Noxian Might, then chaining Noxian Guillotine resets. Beat him by denying long melee uptime, dodging the outer blade of Decimate, and disengaging before five stacks turns the fight.
Quick Counter
Best counter type: Kiting, disengage, anti-heal, and short controlled trades
Biggest danger: Allowing five Hemorrhage stacks on any reachable target
Best defensive response: Break contact before five stacks and avoid the outer edge of Decimate
Best punish window: After Apprehend misses or Decimate is used without hitting its outer blade
Fight plan: Stay outside pull range, deny outer-blade healing, disengage before five stacks, then re-enter while Apprehend is unavailable.
What Darius wants
A long melee exchange where he can steadily build Hemorrhage stacks.
Outer-blade Decimate hits that deal damage while healing him.
A successful Apprehend that prevents a target from resetting distance.
One low-health target for Noxian Guillotine to start a reset chain.
How to beat Darius
Count Hemorrhage stacks. The fight changes dramatically at five, so leaving at four is often much better than trying to finish one more trade.
Move inside or outside the outer blade of Decimate instead of standing at its ideal radius. Denying the blade also denies a major heal.
Punish missed Apprehend. Darius has far less control over ranged targets when his pull is unavailable.
Do not feed him an easy ultimate reset on a low-health teammate if that player can safely disengage.
Best counter tools
Slows, knockbacks, and movement speed that prevent extended melee uptime.
Short burst trades that end before Hemorrhage reaches five stacks.
Grievous Wounds when his healing is materially affecting fights.
Range that forces him to spend Apprehend before he can interact.
Power spikes
Early: He is already dangerous in extended trades because Hemorrhage rewards repeated contact.
Mid: One five-stack target can give him Noxian Might and turn a skirmish into a reset chain.
Late: He remains threatening if he reaches a carry, but coordinated kiting and layered peel make contact harder to maintain.
Key abilities to track
Apprehend: This is the ability that converts spacing into a forced melee fight. Once it misses, ranged and mobile champions gain a real punish window.
Decimate: The outer blade is the dangerous part. It deals stronger damage and sustains Darius, so moving off that ring is often more important than landing your own spell.
Best items into Darius
Plated Steelcaps: A strong defensive boot choice into his physical damage when appropriate for your champion.
Mortal Reminder: Useful for physical carries that need both anti-heal and penetration against a durable Darius.
Stasis Enchant: Can deny a finishing sequence or buy time after he has committed into your team.
Common mistakes
Taking one more trade when already sitting at four Hemorrhage stacks.
Standing on the outer ring of Decimate.
Walking back into Apprehend range immediately after creating distance.
Leaving a nearly dead teammate beside him when an ultimate reset is available.
Fight them in this order
1. Start outside his comfortable pull-and-spin range.
2. Force or dodge Apprehend before committing important damage.
3. Move off the outer Decimate blade and watch Hemorrhage stacks.
4. Disengage before five stacks, then re-enter while his control tools are down.
