Ekko creates burst windows with Timewinder and Phase Dive, threatens large stuns through Parallel Convergence, and can erase bad trades by returning to his afterimage with Chronobreak. Counter him by tracking both the stun zone and ultimate return point, then saving finishing pressure for after Chronobreak is forced.
Quick Counter
Best counter type: Afterimage tracking, stun-zone awareness, burst sequencing, and post-ultimate punishment
Biggest danger: Chasing Ekko through a Parallel Convergence setup or standing near the Chronobreak return point
Best defensive response: Move away from the stun zone and track where his afterimage is before committing burst
Best punish window: Immediately after Chronobreak or Phase Dive is spent
Fight plan: Deny the stun, force Chronobreak without overcommitting, then collapse on the second entry while his reset is unavailable.
What Ekko wants
A Parallel Convergence zone that opponents enter without recognizing the setup.
A short burst trade followed by Chronobreak to undo return damage.
Targets standing close to his afterimage when he activates the ultimate.
Opponents who chase blindly and let him dictate the path through Timewinder and stun zones.
How to beat Ekko
Respect Parallel Convergence even before Ekko enters it. Leaving the zone removes both the stun and the shield value he wants from the setup.
Track the Chronobreak afterimage continuously. The return point tells you both where he can escape and where the ultimate can deal damage.
Do not spend every finishing cooldown before Chronobreak is forced. Preserve enough damage or control for the second interaction.
After he uses the ultimate, pressure immediately. Ekko loses his strongest mistake-erasing tool and becomes much more punishable.
Best counter tools
Vision and awareness of the Chronobreak afterimage.
Burst sequencing that preserves a second wave after the ultimate.
Crowd control after Phase Dive or Chronobreak is spent.
Movement that exits Parallel Convergence before it activates.
Power spikes
Early: His burst becomes dangerous once he can combine mobility with passive-triggered damage, but missed setup remains punishable.
Mid: Chronobreak makes aggressive trades much safer and punishes opponents who forget the afterimage location.
Late: He can still erase a carry, but forcing the ultimate before the final commitment creates a clear second-phase punish window.
Key abilities to track
Parallel Convergence: The delayed zone can turn a chase into a stun and shield for Ekko. Leave the area before he enters rather than reacting after the control lands.
Chronobreak: The afterimage marks both his escape destination and an area-damage threat. Track it before deciding where to stand or when to commit burst.
Best items into Ekko
Stasis Enchant: Can deny Ekko’s committed burst and buy time through the most dangerous part of his entry.
Mercury's Treads: Useful when magic damage and crowd control from the enemy composition justify defensive boots.
Banshee's Veil: A strong option for suitable casters when blocking the first decisive spell helps prevent his burst setup.
Common mistakes
Chasing through Parallel Convergence.
Standing on or near the Chronobreak afterimage.
Using every burst cooldown before the ultimate is forced.
Backing off after Chronobreak instead of exploiting its cooldown.
Fight them in this order
1. Track the afterimage and avoid Parallel Convergence zones.
2. Pressure hard enough to force Chronobreak without spending every finishing tool.
3. Reposition away from the return point as the ultimate activates.
4. Then re-engage immediately while his major reset and escape are unavailable.
